The Bakheng Water Treatment Plant is situated in the Bakheng district of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The plant will be built to improve the water supply in this area and eventually give a 60 percent increase in drinking water delivery capacity due to large urban expansion. A drinking water treatment plant and transfer pipes are part of the project. The supply system will finally provide drinking water to more than 1.5 million residents in Phnom Penh's north-east.
The construction process involved the meticulous planning and implementation of advanced engineering techniques. The design of the treatment plant took into consideration the diverse sources of water it would process, requiring adaptable filtration and purification systems. Cutting-edge technologies such as advanced sedimentation tanks, rapid sand filters, and chemical disinfection processes were deployed to guarantee the highest standards of water quality. The excavation and construction of the physical infrastructure included the establishment of large-capacity water basins, pumping stations, and intricate pipelines to facilitate the movement of water throughout the treatment process.
Special attention was given to the incorporation of resilient materials to ensure the longevity and durability of the infrastructure, minimizing maintenance requirements over time.
Bakheng Water Treatment Plant leveraged a spectrum of cutting-edge technologies to ensure efficient water purification and distribution. At the core of the technological arsenal were advanced water treatment processes, incorporating state-of-the-art sedimentation tanks, rapid sand filters, and chemical disinfection methods. These technologies collectively enabled the removal of impurities, contaminants, and pathogens, ensuring that the treated water met stringent quality standards. Automation played a pivotal role in the plant's operations, with the implementation of advanced control systems that monitored and regulated the treatment processes. Automated sensors continuously assessed water quality parameters, allowing for real-time adjustments and ensuring a consistent and reliable output of purified water.
